Shannon Dunfield to represent NDP in Grande Prairie – Wapiti

The NDP has found its candidate for Grande Prairie – Wapiti. Shannon Dunfield will represent the riding in the 2019 provincial election.

Dunfield is the manager for Indigenous Health and Diversity for Alberta Health Services’ northern zone and previously worked as the coordinator of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Programs for the Grande Prairie Public School District. She says her experience in health care and education helps her know the importance of strong public services.

“I am running to be a part of Rachel Notley’s team because like her, I believe that all Albertans deserve access to high-quality health care and excellent schools no matter where they live or how much money they make.”

This isn’t Dunfield’s first political campaign. She ran for a spot on Grande Prairie city council in 2017. Dunfield was also recognized as the city’s Volunteer of the Year in 2014 and is currently the Vice-President of Métis Local 1990.
