Local midget A team to face Fort St. John Saturday in APHL playoffs

Another Grande Prairie hockey team is working its way through the playoffs. The Capstan Hauling Midget A Knights will face off this weekend against the Fort St. John Midget A Flyers in game two of the All Peace Hockey League Tier 1 A Banner Final.

The Knights finished first overall in the regular season with a 12-2-1 record. In the first playoff match up against the High Prairie Midget A Legionnaires, Grande Prairie won all three games. So far in this series against Fort St. John, the Knights have a one-game lead.

In other local leagues, the Grande Prairie Storm is currently facing the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in Alberta Junior Hockey League action, the Ernie’s Sports Experts Storm is in the Midget AAA playoffs and the Grande Prairie Athletics are getting close to the North Peace Hockey League Final.

Puck drop on game two of the Knights and Flyers series is Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Chris McMillan County Arena.
