Grande Prairie brewers win gold at Best Beer in Alberta awards

The feeling is too sweet to be sour, even if the beer is. Grande Prairie’s Grain Bin Brewing Company “Grain Bin II” took home gold in the “Best in Show” category as part of Avenue Calgary’s annual Best Beer in Alberta awards.

“You should take your job seriously, but don’t take your beer too seriously,” says Brewer Dalen Landis.

The beer, which isn’t a traditional ale, was the company’s second-anniversary edition from its sour program. Landis says it’s a tremendous feeling being recognized for their efforts, but suggests it was going against the “us against the world” mentality some startups may have that brought the brewery success.

“Don’t see it as you versus them. It’s you and them. We are working together to make Alberta beer the best it can be.”
