Rycroft state of local emergency over, boil advisory remains

People in Rycroft still need to boil their water, but the end may be near. The state of local emergency in Rycroft ended just before 9 a.m. Friday morning, but a boil water advisory will stay in place until tests can prove it is safe to consume.

Both measures have been in place since March 1st, following a water main break in the village. The water treatment plant went back to normal operations Thursday night and crews are monitoring pressure and quality.

“Samples have been collected and are being delivered to Edmonton for testing,” the Village reports. “Once the samples are delivered it make take up to 48 hours or more for testing to occur and for the results to be returned.”

So far, it’s reported that water pressure in the distribution system and consumption numbers at water treatment plant are normal.
