Edmonton Oilers alum headline Storm fundraising dinner

A trio of Edmonton Oilers alumni will take their place on the stage as part of the first Grande Prairie Storm celebrity fundraising dinner. George Laroque, Andy Moog, and Ethan Moreau will get the honours for the inaugural event, and organizers say any battle of Alberta hard feelings are likely to go out the window for anyone who hopes to attend.

“The thing with these three guys, is whether you like the Oilers or not, if you enjoy the sport you’re going to love their stories and what they bring to the table,” says Storm Business Manager Eric Hein.

The hockey team has, in recent history, had well documented financial problems and was recently approved for a loan from the City of Grande Prairie. Hein says the club hopes the change in direction when it comes to fundraising will make a splash and help the team meet its most pressing needs.

“Really just looking outside the box. Breathing new life into how we do things on the business side, and it’s going to be fun. At the end of the day it’s going to be fun.”

The event is set for March 30th at the Pomeroy Hotel. Tickets and more information can be found at Revolution Place.
