Canadian Tire mega store set for March 21st opening

It’s been a project which is hard to miss. The biggest Canadian Tire in Canada is inching closer to its grand opening in Grande Prairie.

General Manager Ron Regnier believes it also means more to the community than just having a mega-sized store, and that it could boost both employment and local economy.

“The people of Grande Prairie should be proud. The people at Canadian Tire feel that Grande Prairie as a community will support the biggest Canadian Tire in the country.”

Plans for the 173,000 square foot facility started in 2014 when the land was purchased. Regnier says as the months have ticked by, the focus has changed from construction jobs available to full and part-time work for those in the retail sector.

“We’ve been hiring since we started this, and we’re always accepting applications. We are always looking for good people to join the team for sure.”

Regnier says the grand opening on the new store is expected March 21st.
