Snow clearing underway after record snowfall in Grande Prairie

The City’s new snow removal policy is being put to the test this week, as Grande Prairie deals with another record snowfall.

After the five centimetres we got on Friday, 17.2 fell Saturday, smashing the previous record of 7.6 from 1995.

Plowing started Saturday morning, with the downtown area cleared Sunday.

Priority 2 routes are set for today, while residential areas will start seeing plows Wednesday.

The new policy gets neighbourhoods cleared the day before their garbage pickup, so Swanavon, Highland Park, and Avondale are first.

Residents are asked to make sure vehicles aren’t parked on the road.
