The Maternity Care Consumers of Alberta Network has released a new report on the state of maternity care in the province.
The report claims that maternity care in Alberta right now is in a bit of a crisis.
Advocate Rebecca Edwards Rabiey says ideally they’d like to see group of maternity care experts tasked with creating a clear vision and strategy for the province.
“We’re really finding that in rural and remote areas especially the services are really limited, so we’re looking at enacting a taskforce that represents urban, rural, remote, and diverse populations.”
The group spent about 5 months earlier this year surveying nearly 1,400 people across the province, and used that information to help create the report.
A follow up meeting with Peace River residents will be held in a few months time.
