New program to give St. Andrew’s students free breakfast

Students at St. Andrew’s School in High Prairie are about to get free breakfast daily. A new program will provide 214  breakfasts each morning for every student in grades K-4 starting on March 4th. Principal Marc Lamoureux says he’s excited to have the program at his school.

“Studies show that kids learn better with proper nutrition, and we are looking forward to watching our students grow. We are confident that this program will provide a solid foundation for our students so they can reach their full potential.”

The program will be run by Yvonne’s Kitchen who has been running the school’s cafeteria since September 2016. All breakfasts will follow Canada’s Food Guide. Each week there will be four hot breakfasts and one cold breakfast.

The program is also in two other Holy Family Catholic Regional Division schools. Holy Family School in Grimshaw provides breakfast for around 140 students while St. Stephen’s School in Valleyview provides lunch for around 200 students. The program will run until Wednesday, June 26th.
