Community Foundation urges Grande Prairie to take part in Random Act of Kindness Day

Grande Prairie and Peace Region residents are encouraged to take part in Random Act of Kindness day today.

Tracey Vavrek, CEO of the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta, says by going that little extra bit to make someones day, we have an opportunity to make the community shine.

“We all are very busy in our community, we’re busy working, we’re busy involved with things, and we’re always very generous, but the Community Foundation is asking our community to just do a little bit extra, to help others to just feel a little more engaged, a little more empowered, and just that, you know, ‘wow, this is a special city to live in’.”

Those taking part in Random Act of Kindness day are encouraged to share their experiences on the Community Foundations Facebook page.

Vavrek says last year they heard about more than 17,000 random acts of kindness.

“So with our schools being a part of it, our community members, corporate citizens, that’s big to help us make a difference in our community. The end result is that we all feel like we belong, like we’re engaged, and we give back more to the community.”

This year 2dayfm is Grande Prairie’s official kindness station, so if you take part, or experience a random act of kindness, be sure to let us know through Facebook, our App, or by calling the station (780-357-1047)!
