Local man charged after drugs, cash found in Sangudo home

A Grande Prairie man is facing drug-related charges after police searched a home in Sangudo. On February 18th, officers found 889 grams of methamphetamine, 32.5 grams of fentanyl, 89 grams of cocaine, 3.4 grams of heroin, 296 grams of cannabis, a stolen 2015 Arctic Cat side-by-side and two snowmobiles also believed to be stolen at the home.

41-year-old William Raymond Blackwood of Grande Prairie and 28-year-old Sonja Marie Susan Sanders of Edmonton are now facing charges of possession of methamphetamines, fentanyl, heroin and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5000, possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.

Blackwood was also arrested on a Canada wide warrant for a parole violation and had been wanted by police since May 2018. As part of the same investigation, a home in Rochfort Bridge was also searched. While there, police found more drugs, stolen property and guns.

Both Blackwood and Sanders are currently in custody and are set to appear in Mayerthorpe Provincial Court on March 14, 2019.
