Grande Prairie marking Rotary International Day of Celebration

Grande Prairie’s Rotary clubs will be celebrated Friday. A tailgate party will be held at Revolution Place at 5:30 p.m. ahead of the Grande Prairie Storm game.

2019 marks 114 years of Rotary. It’s also a special year for the city, as Grande Prairie’s Tracey Vavrek will serve as District Governor for Rotary District 5370.

Vavrek will succeed Ingrid Neitsch as of July 1, 2019. As previously reported by MyGrandePrairieNow.com, her governorship will also bring the district’s annual conference to the city from October 3rd to 5th.

Vavrek is the Executive Director for Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta and joined Rotary in 2006. She is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie After Five and is a past-President of the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie Sunrise.

“I believe in Rotary and the world needs Rotary,” Vavrek says. “We work together to serve our local communities and many projects throughout the world. Through Rotary we connect with friends, family and lead to make change throughout the world.”

Grande Prairie boasts four different Rotary Clubs: The Rotary Club of Grande Prairie, Swan City Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Grande Prairie Sunrise, and Rotary Club of Grande Prairie After Five.
