Report of shots fired in Taylor leads to police chase

Three people are facing charges after what RCMP is calling a high-risk call in the Taylor, B.C. area. A little after 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning, a resident woke up to what they thought were gunshots in the 9800 block of North Spruce Street.

As mounties from Fort St. John made their way to the town, they noticed a vehicle heading towards them on Highway 97. When they tried to pull if over, officers reportedly saw several things being thrown from the Dodge van, including what was believed to be a bullet-resistant vest.

The vehicle was followed to Fort St. John, where it was pulled into the parking lot of a hotel. Three people tried to run from police but were taken into custody.

“I am very proud of the systematic response by our officers to this type of high-risk call,” says acting operations officer Dave Tyreman. “They were able to contain the threat to the public while safely apprehending the alleged suspects.”

A 32-year-old woman from Taylor woman, a 29-year-old man from Fort St. John, and a 34-year-old man from Victoria are awaiting a court appearance on numerous firearm and other related offences. It was determined that what was thrown from the Dodge were a bullet-resistant vest, a shotgun, and a 9mm pistol.
