Extreme cold warning issued for Grande Prairie

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for the Grande Prairie Area. Wind chills approaching minus 40 are expected for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview and Peace River – Fairview regions.

People in the area are urged to watch for symptoms like shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes. Environment Canada warns to cover up, as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
