County fire service welcomes new platoon captain

There is a new face joining the ranks of the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire fighters this week.

Mike Shykora has been working in the region for the past 11 years, with the Peace River Fire Department, and the Alberta Emergency Management Agency in the northwest.

Shykora will spend his first month with the rural fire service working with the Deputy Fire Chief of Urban Operations.

Following that he will officially take over as the Captain of the A Platoon.
