OHS also investigating fatal Highway 40 crash

Alberta Occupational Health and Safety will also be investigating a fatal crash on Highway 40. A 64-year-old man from Saskatchewan was killed Saturday night when his pickup truck was involved in a collision with a semi truck and vac truck.

Police say the crash happened at the intersection with Archie Way Road around 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. The highway was closed in both directions for nearly 10 hours, and the driver of the vac truck was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

While an investigation with an RCMP collision analyst is still underway, Corporal Curtis Peters says the semi was heading south and the vac track north when the pickup truck proceeded from a stop sign at the intersection. The OHS investigation will be separate from the RCMP’s.
