Local family given naming rights to Peace Country Classic Agri-Show

The Peace Country Classic Agri-Show now has a new name. On Tuesday, the Foster family who own Foster’s Agri-World secured the naming rights for the event for the next five year. President Jesse Foster says his family has been in the agriculture business for years and having their name on this was the next step forward.

“We’re really excited. It’s a unique opportunity, obviously, it puts our name out there even more recognizable with agriculture… We’ve been around a long time in the Peace Country and in business and only in business with agriculture so it’s a natural fit to be at the forefront of the Peace Country Classic.”

The company was founded in the 1950s when Johnny Foster started a Seed Farm in Beaverlodge. The business went through a number of expansions over the years including the opening of a sister company called Foster’s Agri-World.

The family also opened Foster’s NAPA Autoparts in 2014 and purchased Kubota Country in Fairview in 2018. Foster says having his family name on the event also shows how much passion they have for this business.

“I’m third generation in this business and I think it just shows that’s what we are. We support agriculture, we are agriculture really and it’s such an easy fit to do this.”

The agri-show is an annual event that first started at Evergreen Park in 1986. It features booths set up by seed companies and equipment companies from all across western Canada. Board president Kelvin Kirkham says he’s excited to have a family name tied to the event.

“Foster’s has been an agri-show supporter for many years both as an exhibitor and a sponsor and have been very active in the community for many decades. We are delighted to have the Foster’s family join the Evergreen Park and agri-show family.”

The 34th annual Agri-Show will run from March 7th to 9th at Evergreen Park.
