The RCMP is looking for witnesses to a crash that killed a woman on Highway 43 Saturday. The two-vehicle collision between a truck and an SUV happened around 11 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near Highway 22.

Police say their investigation so far had led them to believe the SUV was heading the wrong direction when it hit the oncoming truck. The 61-year-old woman driving the SUV was declared dead at the scene, while the three people in the truck were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation is still underway with the help of an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist. Anyone who witnessed the fatal crash is asked to contact Mayerthorpe RCMP. The name of the deceased has not been released.
