Free skating, swimming planned for Family Day

Wondering what to do with the kids this Family Day long weekend? The City of Grande Prairie is hosting a number of events from the 16th to the 18th to get people out of their homes and into the community.

Saturday, February 16th
Sun Life Financial Free Family Day Skate
There will be free skating at the Dave Barr Community Centre from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Helmets are required for everyone under the age of 18.

Sunday, February 17th
New Horizon Co-op Free Family Day
At the Eastlink Centre there will be free admission to the pool and Fieldhouse as well as a barbeque from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Sun Life Financial Free Family Day Skate
There will be skating at the Coca-Cola Centre from 2:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. There will also be free admission to the Eastlink Centre’s aquatics area from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Monday, February 18th
Winterlude: Family Fun Day
There will be sleigh rides, skating, snowshoeing and family activities at the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion in Muskoseepi Park. That will run from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

New Horizon Co-Op Free Family Fun Day
Visit Revolution Place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for bouncy castles, face painting and activity tables.

New Horizon Co-op Family Day Skate with the Grande Prairie Storm
People are invited to skate with the Grande Prairie Storm following the game on Monday. Skate takes place around 5 p.m.

Throughout the weekend, a number of neighbourhood associations will also be holding events for people to get to know their neighbours. They include ice skating, tobogganing, and snowman building contests.

Signature Falls will hold its event on February 16th. The ones for Highland Park and Swanavon will be held on the 17th, and the ones for Mountview, Mission, VLA & Montrose, Westpointe, Pinnacle will take place on the 18th. The Avondale Neighbourhood Association will hold theirs on February 24th.
