UPDATE: Man sentenced to fines following drug bust

UPDATE: On January 23rd, Lavanway was sentenced to a $1,000 fine on both charges of possession of a controlled substance. The possession for the purpose charge was dropped.

A man is facing charges after drugs were seized from a home in Grande Prairie. On February 2nd, tips about a possible drug house led RCMP to search an apartment in “a central location of the city”.

Police say they found illegal drugs, things related to drug use, and cash. In total, 27 grams of meth in pill form, five fentanyl pills and roughly 0.5 grams of Fentanyl powder, and less than half a gram of heroin was seized, along with $720 cash.

“Grande Prairie RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance,” says Corporal Maria Ogden. “If you wish to report a drug house in your neighbourhood, please call the confidential tip line at 780-830-7444.”

48-year-old Kenneth Lavanway has been charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of breaching a conditional sentence order. He is set to appear in Grande Prairie court Monday.
