All staff and students are safe after two Grande Prairie schools were placed on hold and secure Monday morning. Because of a police presence in the area, doors were locked at both Avondale School and Harry Balfour School. Both have since reopened.
In a Twitter post, Harry Balfour staff say the school was locked from 8:07 am to 8:16 am while police responded to a situation in the area. Around the same time, Avondale School says it was also placed on hold and secure. That one lasted around 30 minutes.
Grande Prairie RCMP say police have moved out of the area. No more information is expected to be released.
