Venue changed for premiere of local opioid video series

The location for the premiere of the city’s new opioid video series has changed. The City of Grande Prairie says that because of overwhelming community interest, Critical Condition: The Opioid Crisis in Grande Prairie will now be shown at the Douglas J. Cardinal Performing Arts Centre at GPRC. It was originally supposed to be shown at Grande Prairie Live Theatre.

The video series will profile multiple people who have been directly affected by the drug’s usage in the city. It was produced by the Grande Prairie Community Opioid Response Task Force with funding received from the Alberta Government. The series is designed to raise awareness about opioids and aims to reduce the stigma surrounding them.

The event will take place on Tuesday, February 5th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are free but people are encouraged to pre-register by calling 780-538-1616. Everyone who has previously registered will still have their seats reserved.
