Additional funding means AISH recipients eligible for legal aid

The province has added another $5.5 million in funding for Legal Aid Alberta.

As a result, people receiving Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped will now have access to representation, despite making more than the current maximum monthly income.

The income level to qualify has been increased by 18 per cent to $1,588 a month.

Legal Aid Alberta already received $47.9 million in the province’s 2014/2015 budget, rounded out with $10.9 from the feds.
