Grande Prairie businesses taking part in United Way Day Thursday

Several local businesses will be chipping in this week to help raise money for United Way Day, happening on October 30.

United Way Alberta Northwest executive director Brenda Yamkowy says they are hoping to reach six figures with the fundraising by the end of the day on Thursday.

“We have a goal of $100,000 for the day, which we think is very doable. We currently have approximately 40-some different businesses that are registered, so we’re hoping that more people will be involved. With 50,000 odd people in our community, we think we can reach $100,000.”

Some of the businesses who have already signed up to take part include Petro Canada, Crouse’s Cleaners, the UPS Store, and Old Navy.
