UPDATE: Three workers injured in explosion at TAQA site

UPDATE #2: Grande Prairie RCMP says three workers were taken to hospital with injuries. They were working near the compressor building that exploded at the site west of Musreau Lake around 2:30 p.m.

The injuries to all three are described as non-life threatening. Police say there’s no concern for the public’s safety and no delays to travel as the site is in a remote location.

RCMP continues to investigate.

UPDATE: The Alberta Energy Regulator has confirmed an explosion was reported at TAQA site Friday. Since there were workers injured, OH&S will take the lead on the investigation. It says it is on site assessing.

A man is being treated for burns after an incident at an industrial site south of Grande Prairie. STARS Air Ambulance says it was dispatched a little before 3 p.m. Friday to pick the patient up from the site between the city and Grande Cache.

It’s reported the man suffered first degree burns and was flown to the QEII Hospital. My Grande Prairie Now.com has reached out to RCMP, the Alberta Energy Regulator, and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety for more information.
