A handful of local high school football players are considered among the top 130 in the province. They took part in Football Alberta’s camp in Edmonton over the past weekend, hoping to score a spot on either the provincial U17 or U18 team.
From Grande Prairie, running back Jayden Sak, defensive linemen Ashton Cyre, Colin Difilippo, Dakota Power, and Nicolas Walker, and defensive back Izayah Rogers were selected from 400 athletes to advance to the final selection camp. They’ll be joined by Sexsmith running back Micah Siebert.
The final cut will be made at a camp in Calgary from April 5th to 7th. The U18 team will represent Alberta at the Football Canada Cup in Kingston, Ontario in July, and the U17 team will travel to Maui in August for a development camp versus Hawaiian high schools. The U17s will also play an exhibition scrimmage versus Team Saskatchewan in June.
CONGRATULATIONS to all the 130 players who made the #firstcut. Thank you to all #superweekend participants who pushed one another to give it their best.
