More registration opportunities for driveway windrow clearing

Over the past few days, Grande Prairie residents who feel unable to clear windrows from their driveways this winter have signed up to get help from the city.

However, staff say they heard concerns that not everyone would be able to apply in person.

In response, they’ve added registration times next Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the City Service Centre.

Also, residents who have serious mobility issues or who are shut in can make special arrangements for registration.

The city’s new snow removal program will leave the responsibilty of clearing driveway windrows to homeowners.

It notes that residents in the end of a cul de sac won’t have to worry, as their snow will be piled in the centre.

Those who live across from a park will also have snow pushed in that direction.
