Sometimes it’s the little things that make a community stronger.
That’s the idea behind Random Act of Kindness Day on November 7th, when Grande Prairie residents are encouraged to make an extra effort to help out their neighbours.
Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta Tracy Vavrek encourages the whole community to look for some way to make a difference.
“Each of us are busy in our daily lives and we are very appreciative of all the things we have in our community, and sometimes there’s people that are going without, or maybe someone’s having a bad day, and a little extra smile or a little extra help can maybe just help move them to have even a brighter day.”
In the past, people have shovelled driveways, paid for others’ coffee orders, and delivered food to local organizations.
Residents are encouraged to share stories and recognize good deeds throughout the day on the Community Foundation’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
