Man charged after Countryside South standoff

A Grande Prairie man is facing charges following a standoff at a Countryside South home. Early in the morning on December 31st, police say the man returned to a house with a weapon after he was previously removed from the property earlier on in the day. A shot was fired and the man fled to a home in Countryside South.

Later on, RCMP responded to a report of a man believed to be armed and barricaded inside a home in Countryside South. With the help of police dogs and the Emergency Response Team, the man was arrested.

35-year-old Carl Ross Yarborough has been charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon, discharge of a firearm and mischief.

He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Grande Prairie on January 7th.
