One killed in Alaska Highway crash

One person has been reported dead in a crash on the Alaska Highway. Energeticcity.ca reports a tanker truck and a pickup crashed at the intersection with 214 Road just north of Dawson Creek around 2:40 p.m. Thursday.

Police say one person was killed, and haven’t commented on the condition of any others involved. The highway was closed in both directions for several hours, reopening to single-lane traffic around 10 p.m.

The fatal crash is the second on Highway 97 in a week, after the driver of a pickup died in a collision with a semi near 230 Road on December 13th.
