City ups community group funding

More money will be going to community groups in Grande Prairie next year. City council has decided to increase the 2019 budget approved in November by nearly $56,000.

In total, just under $4.35 million will be available. Mayor Bill Given says councillors reconsidered the benefits of the groups.

“The Community Group funding is a partnership between the City of Grande Prairie and local groups and agencies that provides immense value for our whole community. Through this funding we’re able to support community groups so they can use their expertise and knowledge to provide programs and services that meet our community’s needs and benefit the quality of life for all of our residents.”

The requests added up to $5.36 million, more than a million more than was doled out in 2018.
