People in Sexsmith will soon be able to vote ahead of this month’s by-election. On Friday, advanced polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Legion Club Room.
People will have three candidates to choose from to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Mayor Claude Lagace. Sexsmith Chamber of Commerce President Jacqueline Jensen and former town councillors Ian Penner and Kate Potter all have hopes of filling that spot.
In order for Penner and Potter to run, they have had to resign from council. There are six people running to replace them: Elizabeth Bateman, Clare Craipley, Pamela Foley, Kenneth Hildebrand, Dennis Stredulinsky, and Christopher Welsh.
Ahead of advanced polls, the town will also be holding a candidates forum. It is set for 7 p.m. in the Robert W. Zahara Public School gymnasium on December 13th.
The election will take place on December 17th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Legion Club Room.
