A provincially coordinated homeless census will be conducted here in Grande Prairie next week, on October 23.
A number of community partners will be participating in the project, including HIV North, whose Executive Director Susan Belcourt Ross says the city tries to do these homeless censuses every few years to see where the level of need is in Grande Prairie.
“They do a count from 4:30 until 8:30 pm, and another from 8:30 until midnight on one day only to see and capture what our true numbers are in the community for people in need.”
The city is still looking for volunteers to help with the survey.
There will be training for volunteers on October 20 or 21, from 7-9 pm.
