At the time, Grande Prairie RCMP said the pickup’s driver ran off into the Patterson area and couldn’t be found by Police Dog Services. It was also determined that the truck involved in the crash had been stolen.

On December 5th, 37-year-old Terris Truax was charged with dangerous driving causing death, failure to remain at the scene of an accident causing death, flight from a police officer, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime. He remains in police custody with a court appearance set for December 19th.

According to loved ones, Sandhu got married less than two months before the fatal crash and had applied for permanent residency after moving to Canada in 2010. He was identified by a GoFundMe page, which raised $31,015 in one month.
