Couple charged after suspected drug overdose in Whitecourt

A couple is facing drug charges after Whitecourt RCMP and EMS responded to a suspected overdose Wednesday afternoon.

When police found the man unconscious in his vehicle at the Eagle River gas station, $2,500 worth of marijuana, meth, and crack cocaine was discovered, along with a sawed off shotgun and a loaded prohibited hand gun.

Craig Benson of Blue Ridge and his driver Amber Smith of Woodlands County, both 38 years old, are facing 13 charges surrounding drug possession, trafficking and firearms, and are set to appear in court on October 28th.
