Efforts to find copper wire owner after moose caught twice in one day

Alberta Fish and Wildlife Enforcement are trying to find the owner of some downed copper wire west of Grande Prairie.

On December 2nd, officers received a call about a bull moose caught in some wires along the railroad tracks west of the city. When they arrived, they found some copper wire that used to be hanging overhead tangled around the moose’s antlers and neck.

They tranquillized the moose and were able to free it and let it go. Officers then trimmed back the wire. Later that same day, they returned and found the same moose stuck in the wires. It was freed again and was able to leave the area on its own.

Fish and Wildlife Enforcement is asking the owner of the wire to come forward so that it can be removed.
