Salvation Army in need of volunteers for kettle campaign

Looking to help out in Grande Prairie this holiday season? The Salvation Army says it’s still short over 600 volunteers for this year’s kettle campaign. Already two weeks into the campaign, Captain Peter Kim says they’re getting desperate.

“We had calculated over 1000 shifts that were needed for our whole kettle campaign… We still have so many empty spots right now and we’re kind of desperate at this point.”

The five-week campaign sends volunteers to nine different locations around Grande Prairie. Volunteers are able to chose their location as well as any two-hour shift between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Kim says any amount of time people can give would help.

“We go from now right up until the 24th of December and so we are looking for volunteers. If they have a moment or a couple hours to spare it would really help us out.”

All the money collected during the five-week campaign goes to towards covering the groups operating costs for an entire year. People 18 years and older looking to volunteer can call The Salvation Army at 780-538-2848.
