Three groups receive grants from Peace River couple

Three groups in the Peace country are the first recipients of grants from the Frank and Agnes Lovsin Legacy fund. The High Prairie and District Museum and Historical Society, Peace River School Division No. 10 and the Fairview Fine Arts Society have all been chosen to receive this year’s grants.

With help from the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta, the Lovsin’s started the fund in 2017. It aims to offer financial support to charities that mean a lot to the couple. Frank says they wanted to do something that would be left behind when they go.

“Time and again we would see people move to a community with their family and they would do well. Families would end up with powerful assets that end up leaving the community when they retire and move away. They wouldn’t volunteer or be active in the community, and that’s just not the way that we are.”

The grants will be handed out on November 27th at Freson Bros. in Peace River.
