Jessica Guimond will be the Town of Wembley’s next councillor. She won Tuesday’s byelection with 46 of the 69 votes cast.
A byelection was called after former councillor Nicholas McDonald resigned in September. Guimond was up against Robin Herrington, who received the other 23 votes.
The votes still need to be made official with Elections Alberta. Guimond will then be sworn in at a later date. Wembley had a population of 1,516 as of the 2016 census, making for a turnout of less than five per cent.
