The city is planning to look for future uses for an area south of 132 Avenue. On Monday night, City Council approved a bylaw that would close a laneway that runs through two blocks of land between of 101 and 102 Street.
The city says the lane is not required to access land and the closure would allow it to look at other uses for the property which currently sits empty on one side and has a garage on the other.
Advertising was sent out about the closure and signs were placed in the area allowing anyone with concerns to come forward. No one objected to the closure, so the city decided to move ahead.
What the city plans to do with the land has not been decided yet.
