County officials to ask about status of new Beaverlodge hospital

The replacement of the Beaverlodge Hospital is still one of the County’s biggest concerns. That will be one of the topics Reeve Leanne Beaupre says she will be looking to ask Health Minister Sarah Hoffman about at convention starting Monday.

“The Beaverlodge Hospital is the oldest health facility in the province and it’s vital that we hear direction from the province on when construction will begin. A new hospital is a much-needed facility for residents of the town and the area tying into the future regional hospital.”

Twice a year, the Rural Municipalities of Alberta Convention brings together council members and delegates from rural communities. Another issue Beaupre plans to bring up is the lack of funding for the twinning of Highway 40.

“The County of Grande Prairie continues to stress how crucial it is to twin Highway 40, including adding a new bridge over the Wapiti River, as soon as possible. Ever increasing traffic volumes on this roadway add to mounting safety concerns.”

She also plans to ask about Highway 40X construction, Highway 43X and the safety concerns surrounding the intersection of Highways 733 and 43 in Bezanson. The convention takes place in Edmonton from November 19th to the 22nd.
