Video of inhumane coyote death under investigation

An online video of a wild animal being killed inhumanely is being investigated by authorities. The video, as viewed by 2day FM staff, appeared to show two young people abusing a coyote.

It begins with the injured animal being loaded into the back of a snowmobile, and the rest of the clip shows it being beaten to death. Grande Prairie Rural RCMP says it heard about the video Sunday and is now investigating along with Grande Prairie Fish and Wildlife.

“We believe we’ve identified the individuals involved, but it’s too early to speculate on specific offences or potential charges,” says Alberta Justice and Solicitor General communications advisor Jason van Rassel.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
