Local art sought for Podollan Inn's Fine Art of Hospitality exhibit

The Podollan Inn is calling all Peace Country artists to take part in the Fine Art of Hospitality, an art show that will coincide with the opening of the newest portion of the hotel.

Coordinator Tymmarah Zehr says rather than use commercially produced art, they want to showcase local art in the new hotel rooms, which open up in November.

“It’s work that are original pieces, or possibly prints, we’re also accepting photographs. We’ve had lots of interest already, so I think it’s going to be an amazing opportunity for local artists to reach more customers.”

The pieces in each room will be up for sale, but says the hotel will not be taking any commission. Zehr says it’s all about creating a unique showcase for local art.

“The other thing is also to enhance the guest experience. Walking into what could be, kind of like an art exhibit in a hotel room, I think is going to make it a nicer experience for people. And of course then they have the opportunity to take that piece of work home.”

There are 65 rooms in total, though Zehr says there is no maximum number of pieces that will be considered.

One stipulation is that the pieces should be 4-5′ wide and 3-1/2′ high, though other sizes can be used to compliment the larger pieces.

The deadline for submissions is October 24, more information is available here.
