Applications for County disaster relief open Wednesday

People living in the County who were affected by spring flooding can apply for relief money starting on November 7th. On Wednesday, People will be able to speak to a case manager to see if they qualify for the Disaster Recovery Program. If they do, they can apply in person.

The Disaster Recovery Program provides funding for uninsurable property damage, loss and other expenses as the result of a natural disaster. The money was offered after a spring thaw caused both Bear Creek and the Beaverlodge River to flood in April.

A total of 33 communities across the province including in the county, Town of Sexsmith and Village of Hythe will receive just over $39 million in funding.

People applying in person can go to Evergreen Park from 9 am to 8 pm. They will need to bring photo ID, an insurance letter, and utility bills 90 days prior to the event. Property owners will also need to bring the property tax assessment for 2017 and renters will need the lease agreement covering the event date.
