After years of work, people travelling east from Grande Prairie will be able to make their entire trip along a fully twinned Highway 43.
Transportation Minister and GP Wapiti MLA Wayne Drysdale says finishing the twinning through the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation is significant, as there is a lot of product that moves along the highway.
“I’d like to see more on the rail but the truck transport is very important to this area, that’s what makes it tough, when you’ve got big trucks on the highway. Traffic gets frustrated when they’re stuck behind slow moving trucks on the hill, and then they take chances and pass when they shouldn’t.”
Drysdale says his next focus for the Highway will be the 43X bypass around the city.
