County campgrounds closing soon for the winter

In just two weeks, campgrounds in the County of Grande Prairie will be closing down for the winter.

Hommy, Kleskun Hill, Bear Lake, and Demmitt are all shutting down on October 15th.

Pipestone Creek Campground will close earlier on that on October 6th, so crews can get to work on upgrades.

In the off season, they’ll be installing a new dual service sani-dump and waste water treatment system, as well as solar powered electricity for the group use site and those in loop E.

They’ll all be ready for when campers come back next May.

While they’re closed, the public is not allowed to enter the grounds, or use them for ATVing.

Residents can also be fined for cutting down trees, dumping waste, or harming environmentally sensitive areas.
