Smile Cookie campaign raises nearly $56K for hospital foundation

The biggest Smile Cookie buy in all of Canada happened in Grande Prairie. The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation has confirmed that the purchase of 20,000 icing smile-adorned Tim Hortons cookies by the Sargent Family Foundation, Sean Sargent Toyota and Ken Sargent GMC Buick was the biggest in the entire country.

All the proceeds from the $1 Smile Cookies go to local charities, and in Grande Prairie that charity is the hospital foundation. In total, the sales from September 17th to 23rd brought in $55,735. The cookies bought by Sean Sargent were delivered to children at local schools.

“We are grateful for the wonderful gift that you have given us at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation,” GPRHF says to the Sargent group in a Facebook post. “Your gift will have a huge impact on healthcare in our region for many years to come.”

The funds raised will go towards items needed for the new pediatric ward at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. The goal for this year was $50,000. Typically the campaign brings in around $32,000 to $38,000 locally.
