Dynacorp offers "practical" welding scholarship to Comp students

An oil and gas service company has teamed up with Grande Prairie Composite High to offer the first fully paid welding scholarship.

Dynacorp says the winning recipient will also be offered a job at their Clairmont location.

The award is being called a “practical” alternative to scholarships, as the Public School District says they can often focus too much on academic excellence and not getting students ready for employment.

In order to qualify, student must maintain a “C” grade average in all classes and hand in a letter of recommendation from their welding teacher.
