Local businesses warned about fraud involving debit machines

Local businesses are being warned about a recent trend in debit machine fraud. Grande Prairie RCMP is investigating several cases where people have tampered with debit and credit machines in order to buy things without paying.

Some tips officers have to cut down on this type of fraud include not leaving pin pads alone during transactions, making sure customers are only putting in a 4-digit pin, and making sure workers are watching receipts closely.

Anyone who has been a victim of this kind of fraud or who has information about these crimes is asked to call Grande Prairie RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
