UPDATE: Car crash and shooting in Grande Prairie are connected: RCMP

UPDATE: Police confirmed on Saturday that a 24-year-old man who crashed his truck into a liquor store in the city was the same man injured in a shooting that took place on September 27.

They say the man was involved in a fight with two other men before the crash happened. He was injured and crashed his truck when he tried to leave the area.

Police Dog Services tracked the two other men to a house in Trumpeter village where they were both arrested and are in police custody. The 24-year-old man remains in hospital.

A man has been taken to hospital after a shooting in the city. On Thursday evening, Grande Prairie RCMP received a call that a man had been shot near 92 Street and 100 Avenue.

Eyewitnesses say shortly after shooting, a man crashed his truck into the Cobblestone Liquor Depot. Police have not confirmed whether the shooting and crash are connected.

Two suspects have been arrested and are currently in police custody. Officers believe this is an isolated incident and say there is no risk to the public.

The shooting is now under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Grande Prairie RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
